Samantha Foulds

Samantha Foulds was found dead in a disused office building in Digbeth following a fire.

It was initially ruled that her death had been accidental, however, the findings at her inquest held in April 2020 were overthrown after new evidence came to light stating that she had been dead before the fire took place.

Samantha Foulds was said to have been sleeping rough around the time of her death and that the disused office block had been used by rough sleepers who would build small fires there from time to time. As such, it was initially thought that Samantha Foulds had built herself a fire to keep herself warm which had caused the fire in which she died.

It was heard that at the time her body was discovered it was the view of the police and fire services that the fire had not been set deliberately.

However, new evidence in May 2020 found that there was no evidence of smoke inhalation, indicating that she had been dead before the fire took hold.

The ruling was made in May 2023 at which time it was heard that a new inquest would be carried out, but nothing further about it is known.
