Carol Fisher

Graham Fisher and Carol Fisher were shot three times with a sawn-off shotgun and then beat to death with sledgehammers at a service station near Wadebridge, Cornwall.

Two men were convicted of their murders in 2006 but they were granted a retrial in 2023 and the were aquitted on 18 December 2024.

The court heard that their trial had replied heavily on the statement of a witness that had said he had heard one of them confess to the murders. However, it was also noted that he had come forward the day after a crime Watch appeal which made a £10,000 reward for information.

At the retrial, the defence claimed that the witness had had a lifelong mental disorder that made his evidence unreliable.
