Christopher Homer died after being injured.
He had fractured ribs but died in hospital on 3 September 2021 after catching a flesh eating virus.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of his murder, but the Coroner said that they could not rule out a fall as being the cause of his injuries. The man had been arrested before Christopher Homer died on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
Christopher Homer had been seen a week earlier in CCTV with face injuries.
He had been seen first in the Premier Store in Station Road in New Milton on 26 August 2021 with no injuries, however, the following day he was seen at Santander bank in Station Road at 10.30am and later in the Premier Store at 2pm, with a number of facial injuries.
The police appealed for anyone that had seen him in that 24-hour period or had CCTV or dashcam footage that could help establish his movements to come forward.
