Riccardo Holness died after being attacked outside My Place bar at 59/63 Beckenham High Street just after 1.20am on Sunday 17 October 2021.

He suffered head injuries in the attack and was taken to hospital where he died a month later on 12 November 2021.

His post-mortem examination gave his cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

A 26-year-old man was arrested the day after the attack on suspicion of GBH and bailed but nobody was charged with his murder.

CCTV footage showed him outside the bar involved in an altercation prior to being punched.

The police said:

All the evidence was presented to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) who decided that the case should be discontinued.

The Crown Prosecution Service said:

Our prosecutors reviewed this case with diligence and care, and concluded there was no realistic prospect of conviction on the evidence available.

The police appealed for any other witnesses to come forward.

Riccardo Holness had a child and had lived in Thornton Heath.
