Christopher Fitzgerald died from an overdose of a powerful painkiller.

His inquest returned a verdict of unlawful killing. However there wasn't enough evidence to charge anyone.

However, his father said that he was going to bring a private prosecution against the drug pusher he said was responsible for his son's death, and four men and a woman were to be summonsed to give statements in the case.

His father said:

I hope to get at the truth by taking this action. I have had a lot of unofficial information which was fine for the inquest but no good for committal proceedings. Although these people can't be forced to speak out there will be pressure put on them.

The five people summonsed were all thought to have been drug users.

Christopher Fitzgerald's father added:

I'm never going to give in until the whole story has been revealed.
