Beryl Rigby

Age: 39

Sex: female

Date: 14 Mar 1963

Place: Haarlem Road, Hammersmith

Beryl Rigby died from gas poisoning.

An open verdict was returned at her inquest at Hammersmith.

She had also been known as Beryl Haymen and had been the sister-in-law of impresario Bernard Delfont.

She was found by her husband, a stage director, at their London home.

It was noted that she had had a jaw operation for a jaw infection a few weeks earlier that had shadowed her life with fear. It was said to have been a secret fear of hers that the operation had not been a success and that the pain she had suffered before would return.

However, her mother-in-law said:

There was no reason for Beryl to think the operation was other than successful. I was told her jaw was healing nicely, and I'm sure she would have been perfectly well.

She had appeared in the show Champagne Shower as well as being a star dancer at London's Pigalle theatre restaurant, and for the previous two years she had been a dance-arranger for the Delfont organisation.
