Akther Mangta

Age: 6 weeks

Sex: female

Date: 1 Nov 1963

Place: Bevington Road, Aston

Akther Mangta died from injuries.

Her mother said that she didn't know how she came by the injuries.

Akther Mangta died in the Children's Hospital on 1 November 1963.

She had lived with her mother in Bevington Road, Aston.

At the inquest, the Coroner said that it was clear that her injuries must have been caused at two 'independent times'.

The pathologist said that there were three fractures of the skull, fractured ribs and other injuries and bruises. However, he noted that her skull had been half the thickness of a normal child's and that she had been suffering from a bone defect.

Akther Mangta's mother said that she had never smacked Akther Mangta, and had not seen her fall, and that neither had she heard of her being hit or falling.

When the Coroner summed up, he said:

Does it not strike you as being extremely strange that if the child was accidently knocked that someone does not admit is?
