Mohamed Ahmed

Age: 21

Sex: male

Date: 28 May 2021

Place: Turnpike Lane Tube Station, Hornsey

Mohamed Ahmed was shot outside Turnpike Lane Tube station in Hornsey on 28 May 2021.

The police were called out at about 1.10am on 28 May 2021, but the man died at the scene at 1.55am.

He had been shot in the abdomen and the police said that it was possible that his murder had been in revenge for an earlier shooting in nearby Park Lane on the Friday morning, although the police initially said they were not linking the two shootings.

The police said:

We believe friends of that man took him to hospital, and then travelled on to Turnpike Lane in a Honda Civic, happening upon Mohamed in Ducketts Common, before firing shots from the car and fleeing.

He was found collapsed behind a bus shelter by the junction of Turnpike Lane and Willoughby Road.

A witness said:

I heard at least three shots, ‘pop, pop, pop’. Then the guy staggered holding his side and collapsed. His friends had run away but then came back to help him. I didn’t see a shooter. Paramedics came and were trying to save him. His mum came to the scene. She was wailing, it was horrific.

It was reported that the police cordoned off the area in order to carry out a forensic examination, during which they found bullet casings, and that they were also looking for CCTV footage from local shops and buildings in the area. The police also looked down drains and took photographs.

It was thought that his murder was gang-related.

His inquest in July 2024 returned a verdict of unlawful killing.

Mohamed Ahmed had lived in High Road, South Tottenham, at the time of his death.
