John Kercher was found injured in the road and later died in hospital.
He was found in Windmill Road, Croydon on 13 January 2020 and died three weeks later in hospital on 1 February 2020.
It was thought that he might have been hit by a car that drove off. However, no one saw what happened and there was no CCTV of the area.
He suffered two fractured legs, a broken arm and a head injury. After he was taken to hospital in an unconscious condition and soon after developed pneumonia and breathing difficulties and was put on a ventilator.
His inquest returned a narrative verdict stating that he died from pneumonia and traumatic injuries.
The police described his death as unexplained. They said, 'We are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of his death, including whether he may have been involved in a collision'. They said that he died from a fall and that his post mortem showed that his injuries were consistent with a fall.
He was noted for being the father of Meredith Kercher who was the victim of a high profile murder case in Italy in 2007.
