Alexander Moroz was shot in the head with an air gun at a quarry where he had been out camping. His death was described as unexplained.
He had been playing at the time on 26/27 August 2017 when he was shot.
He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he was initially treated and the police were called out to the hospital at 12.34am on Sunday 27 August 2017. Howevver, he was later transferred to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he was further treated but died there on 30 August 2017.
Two people were arrested following his death.
On 7 September 2017 the police said, 'There’s a number of ongoing items that we’re looking at to establish what happened whilst on the camping trip. A post mortem was carried out on September 4 with myself present. I have 12 to 14 weeks before I get the full report from the pathologist'.
They also said that they wanted to trace a group of rock climbers and walkers that had been in the area on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 26 August 2017 as well as the owner of a car with a French registration plate that was seen parked nearby at about the same time.
They said that they were treating his death as unexplained.
Charnwood Quarry was known locally as Swithland Quarry.
Alexander Moroz's parents were originally from Lithuania and had two other sons.
