The body of a newly-born child was found within the railings of South Marine Park in South Shields.
The body was found by a Corporation labourer who lived in Wawn Street on the Friday morning at 8am on 28 October 1905. He said that he was in Beach Road when he saw a brown paper parcel lying in the railings and said that when he pulled it through and examined its contents he found the body of a newly-born female child.
He said that he then took it to the Central Police Station.
