Elizabeth Bannister died in the infirmary. It was said that a woman had struck her down.
She was a charwoman and had lived in Prescott Street in Hulme.
She was admitted to the Infirmary on 31 July 1905 in an unconscious state and remained like that until 4 August 1905 when she recovered for a time before dying, but she had been unable to make any statement.
However, several women said that they had seen a certain woman strike Elizabeth Bannister down, but the woman in question denied having knocked Elizabeth Bannister down.
