The body of a newly-born female child was found on the banks of the River Colne near Hythe in Colchester on Friday 25 March 1949.
The body was found in a brown paper bag and it was thought that it had been cast up by the tied.
The medical evidence showed that it had a fractured skull and that that was its cause of death.
