Sidney Lipecombe was found dead in the River Medway near Farleigh on Saturday 15 September 1906.
He was a binman employed at a hop garden in East Farleigh.
On the Friday 14 September 1906 the whole of the pickers, about 2,000 of them, were paid off and owing to disturbances the local public houses were closed for a time.
However, the following day Sidney Lipecombe's body was found in the river.
It was noted that although he had drawn 10s on the Friday, when he was found he had only 3d on him.
His inquest heard that there was no evidence to show how he got in the water and an open verdict was returned.
