The body of a three-week-old child was found wrapped up in a pillow slip at low tide on the beach of the Mersey at Liverpool.

It had been put in the pillow slip along with a flat iron to weigh it down and was discovered on the beach beneath the landing stage.

The bundle had been found by two boys who had been playing on the beach.
