Donald Murray died after being hit by a vehicle.
It was thought that he had been hit by the vehicle somewhere between Drake Circus and St Andrews Cross in Plymouth between 9.30pm and 10pm.
After being hit he had walked home to 16 Cheltenham Place in Plymouth with the assistance of someone who had apparently found him lying on the ground.
After he arrived home, he was found to have been so ill that he was taken by ambulance to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Greenbank Road where he died from shock and an injury to his ribs about an hour later.
