The body of a newly-born child was found in the Grand Union Canal between Northampton and Hunsbury Hill.
It was thought that the child had been dead for three months and the post-mortem concluded that there was no evidence to show that the child had been born alive.
The post-mortem also stated that there was no evidence of violence on the child’s body and that the child had had no skilled attention at birth.
