The body of a newly-born female child was found in the ladies cloakroom by a cleaner at Victoria Main Line Station behind some pipes in a cubicle.
It was wrapped up in brown paper.
The police said that there were no marks of violence on the body and nothing on the wrappings to assist them in tracing the child's mother.
When the cloakroom attendant was asked whether he had noticed anyone in particular carrying a brown paper parcel into the cloakroom, he said that probably a hundred or more people came to the cloakroom during the day carrying a parcel or suitcase.
The pathologist said that the child weighed 51bs 10oz and that there was no natural condition to account for its death which he said he thought was due to inattention at birth.
