The body of a newly born child was found on an island in Stanley Park in Blackpool.
The child’s death was said to have been due to asphyxia, but there was no evidence to show how it happened and an open verdict was returned.
The policeman who examined the child’s body after it was found said that its appearance suggested that an attempt had been made to dispose of the child’s body by burning.
The doctor that examined it said that there was extensive charring of the body, but that he was of the opinion that the burns had occurred after death.
He sad that the child had had a separate existence.
An open verdict was returned.
