However, the man on trial said that when he heard they were there he was 'scared stiff'. He said that when Vanslow Kefford arrived he said to him:
And that he went into his caravan and got his gun and was just showing it to him when it went off.

A firearms expert told the court that the gun had been faulty and that the slightest pressure would have caused it to fire. It was also heard that the man on trial had lost the feeling in his right hand following an accident.
