Martin Bennett was shot in the chest as he walked through Hartington Street in Moss Side in the evening of 31 July 1999.
After being shot he managed to stagger into Great Western Street where he was put in a car and driven to the Manchester Royal Infimrary where he died soon after.
He was said to have been a senior Gooch Close gang member and gang boss.
It was heard that he had been involved in a minor fracas with some other men outside a newsagent’s shop shortly before he was shot.
An 18-year old youth was later arrested in Gorton, but no convictions were made.
