Elizabeth Jones was found dead on her sofa with a stocking tied round her neck.
An open verdict was returned.
Elizabeth Jones was said to have just recently had her hair bobbed and had since complained of being cold.
It was said that she had been wearing a high-necked blouse and a woollen stocking round her neck.
When she was found she was lying dead on the couch with her head hanging over the edge of the couch.
A professor said that her death was due to accidental asphyxia caused by diffused pressure on the throat from the stocking and that very little pressure would have brought about asphyxia owing to the condition of her neck.
