Hugh Scott was shot in the abdomen at the back of the Hayfield Pub in Chapeltown on 14 July 2001.
He went to hospital but later died the next day on 15 July 2001.
He had been shot with a sub-machinegun.
A man was tried for his murder but acquitted after a key witness, one of the people shot with Hugh Scott, refused to give evidence.
Hugh Scott had been with three other men behind the pub at the time, and all of them were injured. The man that was tried for the murder of Hugh Scott was also tried for their attempted murders but similarly acquitted.
The Hayfield Pub has since been demolished and replaced with a governement building.
