Twin babies were found dead behind a hedge in a field off of Dalston Road just outside of Carlisle.
They were both male infants and were in an advanced state of decomposition.
There were no marks of violence on them and it was not possible to state whether they had had a separate existence.
It was thought that they had lain in the hedge for about three weeks.
They were well developed.
