Frederick William Smith

Frederick William Smith was found hanging from a noose attached to a clothes hook behind a door at his home at 11 Grosvenor Street, Liverpool.

He was discovered by his parents after they returned home from a football match.

It was said that there was no suggestion of suicide as he had been happy and healthy and a keen student of wireless and cinematography.

It was noted that the noose had been made expertly as though made by a professional hangman.

It was suggested that he might have been experimenting. He was described as being of a cheerful disposition and to have never dropped the least hint of doing himself any harm.

The Coroner said that there was no evidence to show whether his death was intentional or not, and he returned a verdict of 'Death from hanging'.

Frederick Smith was described as a schoolboy as well as a labourer.

Grosvenor Street has since been demolished and is now the site of the Merseyside Police Headquarters.
