Sybil Jones died from an illegal operation.
Her cause of death was stated as being peritonitis, probably caused by a mechanical attempt to bring about a miscarriage with some instrument.
She was seen by a doctor on 24 November 1922 who found an impending abortion. She then collapsed and died at her home on 26 November 1922.
Her husband said that he didn't know anything about his wife's condition.
She was described as a hard working woman and had been a condenser minder at a local mill and had mainly kept her husband for five years, often going to work without breakfast and had often worked all day without dinner too, with other people at the mill occasionally giving her meals.
