Rashleigh George White, a gunner in the army, was thought to have been pushed out of a train in a tunnel on the Great Western Railway.
A man was charged with his murder but discharged after the prosecution said that they were satisfied that the man was not in the train in question.
Rashleigh White was found in the Box Tunnel on the Saturday morning, 26 July 1919 with large lacerated wound to his head.
The man was arrested after he was alleged to have stated in Birmingham that he had pushed a man out of a train.
Rashleigh White had just come to England on leave from France and was apparently travelling to Bristol at the time.
