Christobel Harrison was found dead at her house.
Her throat had been slit and then wrapped with a rag and she also had a cut on her left wrist. Police also found a razor in the lavatory beside the bath with blood on it.
Although the circumstances pointed to suicide it was pointed out that Christobel Harrison didn't have any trouble of any kind and when her Master had left the house that morning she was in her usual good health and spirits.
She was a maidservant and was employed by a partner in a firm of silversmiths working at 159 and 165 Fitzwilliam Street in Sheffield.
The Master had left the house at 9am and when he returned at 7.30pm he found the place locked up. He gained entry through the kitchen window and when he went in he found Christobel Harrison apparently dead in her room.
