Archibald John Howell was found drowned.
He was a First Class Petty Officer of HMS Ambrose.
On 13 March 1915 he had obtained leave from his ship and went to Newhaven where he lived with his wife. Nothing more is known of his movements until he was later found floating in the East Float in Birkenhead on 17 March 1915.
His body was discovered by a packer.
It was examined by a doctor minutely and no marks of violence could be found.
He had been described as a very steady and capable man.
A verdict of found drowned was returned.
