Nathan Tomlinson drowned in the River Irwell.
He had gone missing on 17 December 2010 after going to a Christmas party in Manchester and was found in the River Irwell near Meadow Road in Lower Broughton eight weeks later on 10 February 2011.
He was last seen leaving the Mitre Bar in Manchester when he was slapped by an unknown woman who was never identified. He was later seen in CCTV footage jumping over a wall near the cathedral and then walking across Victoria Street. It was thought that he had then gone to Chapel Street in Salford where he had asked a bus driver how he could get to Stockport where he lived. The police said that he was then seen in CCTV footage in Salford walking near the River Irwell.
It was suggested that he might have been a victim of a serial killer known as The Pusher who was pushing people into canals and rivers.
However, the police said that they were not treating his death as being suspicious.
He was from Brinnington in Stockport and was a trainee sports teacher.
