A child was found floating in a canal opposite Morris's Bridge in Mollington.
However the coroner was unable to say whether the child had been born alive due to the advanced state of putrefaction.
The body was discovered by a banksman employed by the Canal Company. A drapers yard tape measure was tied tightly around the child’s neck.
