Three people were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, but released about a year later without charge.

The police said that his murder was an execution. They said that a previous attempt on his life had been made two days earlier but that he had managed to escape through a first-floor window.
CCTV images were later released showing two men acting suspiciously near to his house in the days before he was shot.
