Joseph Peloe was shot on his doorstep at his home on Heath Road, Speke, Liverpool just before midnight on 28 December 2004.
He was shot in the chest after answering his front door. Afterwards he managed to crawl to Ganworth Road police station about 100 yards away.
He was then taken to Whiston hospital where he later died around 1am on 29 December 2004.
Two men were charged with his murder in 2006 but acquitted. It was heard that the two men had planned the murder after they had fallen out with Joseph Peloe over a woman. The men were heard to have had an argument with Joseph Peloe in the Noah’s Ark pub in Speke during which Joseph Peloe was thrown out and one of the men was claimed to have shouted that Joseph Peloe would be dead by the end of the year.
Five people were initially arrested in relation to his murder, four men and a woman.
Joseph Peloe had been seen talking to a white man, aged 25-35 and about 5ft 8in tall outside his house about 30 minutes before he was shot at about 11.20pm. However, the police had never been able to identify or trace the man. The man had also been seen talking to Joseph Peloe in the days before the murder.
Police said that there had been a wall of silence around his murder.
