Molly Morgan was killed in Streatfield Road, Harrow on 16 January 2009.
She had been mugged and had her empty handbag stolen.
She was a retired architect and was going on her way from Streatfield Road to Kenton Library, in Harrow at around 7.40pm to watch a lecture called ‘Buildings in London’.
Her assailant pulled her handbag from her and she fell to the ground and hit her head and the left side of her body on the pavement. She suffered a broken arm and multiple fractures and died the following day in Northwick Park Hospital at 4am.
Her post-mortem gave the cause of death was a blood clot on the brain and subdural haematoma.
After she was mugged she lay on the ground for 10 minutes as passer-by’s ignored her thinking that she was drunk. Two women who crossed the road to avoid her turned back when they heard her cries for help and an ambulance was called.
When the police arrived Molly Morgan was still alive but was unable to say much about her attacker as she said that he had attacked her from behind and then run off.
Her handbag contained an empty Sainsbury’s carrier bag, an electrical extension lead and a Primark umbrella.
Later that night her handbag was seen in Northwick Avenue, Kenton, near to Rushout Avenue, but the person didn't pick it up and when they looked the next day only the extension lead was found.
Immediately after she was mugged two men, one black and one Asian, were seen running along Streatfield Road towards Kenton Library.
The police said that they were looking to find a man that had been wearing grey jogging bottoms and had been seen walking in front of her in Streatfield Road.
They also said that they were interested in speaking to anyone that had been passing on any of the 114 buses that had gone along Streatfield Road between 7.30pm and 8pm.
