Connie French was attacked in the early hours of 27 March 2012 in her home in North Street, Colne, during a burglary and taken to hospital where she later died on 13 April 2012.
A 24-year-old man from Colne was tried for her murder but acquitted, however police said that they were not looking for anyone else.
She had received severe bruising to her neck and chest during the attack.
During the burglary, her alarm pendent and £230 were stolen.
Whilst she was in hospital she said that the man tried for her murder had tried to suffocate her. It was noted that she had only been able to write things down and mouth replies due to injuries to her larynx.
The man tried denied that he killed Connie French and said that it had been a case of mistaken identity.
