Emma Elizabeth Smith assaulted and mutilated in Osborn Street.

She survived for 24 hours and was taken to the London Hospital where she said that she had been followed by some men and robbed.

She managed to describe one of her assailents although imperfectly.

She had been a prostitute and had been attacke in Osborn Street at the junction with Brick Lane.

She had been lodging at 18 George Street in Spitalfields at the time, and after the attack had been able to walk back. After getting back she was later taken to a hospital where it was found that she had had a blunt instrument inserted into her vagina that had ruptured her peritoneum which brought about peritonitis from she died at 9am the following morning.
