Nicholas Gerard

Nicholas Gerard was shot by two men wearing balaclavas.

He was shot twice with a sawn off shotgun near his east London home in Mitre Road, Stratford on Friday 25 June 1982.

He had just left his home to go to a nearby pub and as he got into his car the two men approached him and shot him in his car. however, he managed to get out and run off, but they followed him and it was thought he probably stumbled and that they then clubed him with the shotgun and then shot him with it again at very close range.

The police said that they had stood over him to reload the gun before shooting it.

The police said they werre trying to trace the driver of a black cab that was described as habing been 'right on top of the shooting'.

He had previously stood trial for the murder of Ronnie Knight but was acquitted.
